Wintersemester 2013 - 2014
– virtual identities, smart fabrics, flexible displays, anonymization
Switch - Create Your Perfect Double Lives
Imagine a world with people being dressed up in display suits, covered in a lighten skin of pixels. How would you recreate yourself?Scenarios like illegally cloning your favorite stars, invisible armies, providing your lighten skin to advertisement companies or new abstract forms of communication and fashion - a new fascinating show business is born.Related to the trend of flexible displays and smart fabrics I created a catalogue for a fictive fashion label named Switch. The catalogue is based on the idea that one dress can show thousands of different dress codes. Because of the possibility to change your dress codes permanently you get the illusion of variety; but this fictive switch label tries to show as less as possible and as much as necessary and just offers black and white designs that reduce you in a fetish way on your social function, e.g. your working class identity. Your choice of appearance by this ultimate fashion label is very limited and your virtual masking ends up in kind of a real life anonymization. If Internet is your stage, what are you performing and sharing there? Is it private or public business? And what if your virtual masking is got to be a physical experience soon?
The second part of the project is an interactive face tracking program that layers different moving masks in your face to give you a better understanding of virtual masking.
